This young man is an inspiration. Not only with his work ethic, which is incredible, but because of his love for humanity. That's the big one. I've now spoken with many amazing artists, all of whom are hugely supportive of the indie community, but B-Funk takes it to the next level. Wait until you hear what his ultimate goal is for his music. I was not expecting that. Epic!

Indie Artist Spotlight #6 - Stone Age Man

If you look up eclectic in the dictionary, and do not find this band name beside it, that's an oversight on the part of Mr Webster. 

Look At What The Cat Dragged In: Demented tango klezmer punk…not much more to say really! 

Save Me: Glam rock with a bubblegum chorus. 

Carry Me Back: Barnstorming blues that builds and builds.

 

 

Indie Artist Spotlight #5 Mike Allen

You are in for a real treat today. Mike Allen, super talented, with an exceptionally broad taste in music. And that wide range of influence comes through in his music. Melding elements from multiple Genres, Mike has created a sound, that I believe, is unique only to him. Elements of EDM, Synth, alt rock, hard rock, and other influences ranging form punk to classical, combine for this truly unique sound. Oh, and I don't think I mentioned during the episode, but Mike produces, records, mixes and masters all his own work. Did I mention he's talented?

Here are today's 3 Tracks:

The Night That I Saw Hell - is a track from my last EP 'The Benefit Of Doubt' and is about my struggles with addiction. 

 

The Weight Of Choice - was the second to last track written and recorded for the album 'Motives' and is about a seemingly unpopular political opinion, depending on what circles you run in. (I think I misread that and said it was the first one written for this album in the episode. Sorry) 

 

New Bliss - was the first track I wrote and recorded for 'Motives' and is about coming to terms with mortality and how everyone's opinion on the matter is just as valid as the next guy's. 

#14 - A Modern Renaissance with Weimar

Another stand-out act from my adventures in playlist curation, Weimar is (in their words) and art rock band hailing from Manchester, UK. It must be something in the water, because it seems that half the great rock bands of all times came from one of 3 cities in the UK; London, Liverpool and of course Manchester. 

Aidan and I had a fun chat. He is a multi-talented guy. Not only a musician, but also an actor and a writer. Just goes to show, a true creative is always creating.

Indie Artist Spotlight #3 - Kortokrax

Featuring 3 tracks from EDM artist Kortokrax. As I mention near the end of the episode, this is a genre that I have a great deal of respect for. The more I try to learn the production side of music, the more I realize just how complicated it can get. Anyone who can produce results like this is one talented individual.

Walking the Shore: In this song I reminisce about wanting to be back home and thinking about friends and loved ones. It is a slow easy rock jam that sounds great in a pair of headphones. 

 

Colorado: this funky groovy instrumental is perfect for a nice slow drive around town. It is a banger done right. 

 

Funky Bump: the uptempo instrumental hits just right. Puts this song on, and go for a walk.

#12 - What's My Name Again - Kevawn

Kevawn is another up and coming hip hop artist. I noticed him while curating playlists, and the young man seemed to stand out among his contemporaries. We talked about everything from playlist promotion to The Tiger King. It's definitely an entertaining episode, as well as informative. There are a few places where the internet connection glitched, and my audio goes haywire for a few seconds, so beware.

Indie Artist Spotlight #1 - Karmaa

Welcome to the first installment of this segment, The Indie Artist Spotlight. Each week, we will do an episode that features 3 songs by a particular artist, with a little commentary in between. The hope is to help as many artists as possible gain more exposure, and find you, the fan.

Karmaa brings us 3 songs this week.

1. Honest (with Mateus Seth) from our collab EP "Hear Me Before I'm Gone" that talks about only wanting a one night stand. 

2. Thinkin On Ya (feat. Mateus Seth and WhoIsS.A.S) single that is a chill party track. 

3. WERKKK leading single from my upcoming 2021 album. Pride Anthem that is all about inclusion, equality, confidence and self love.
